Learning Objectives: 

  • Identify basic insect body parts and groups.

  • Consider the importance of native plants for protecting our insects. 

  • Experience the joy of discovery!

Take a break, stretch your legs, and join Shelly Thomas (BBS Dept) for a 90-minute walking tour. We will start briefly in the lab to learn some basics of identifying insects and consider the importance of insects in our environments. Then we will go outside to catch, examine, and release terrestrial & aquatic insects. Take photos for the BioBlitz!

Skill levels for attendees: Novice. Wear appropriate outdoor clothing and good walking shoes - we will go off path! Please note this is an adult-only (18+) event
