How Can I Harness the Power of Story to Create Classroom Community?
In this interactive session, you'll learn how to use storytelling across academic disciplines to create an innovative learning environment. Stories connect learners to the material, resulting in retention and understanding. Students also connect with the instructor and their peers to build classroom community.

- Recognize the role of storytelling in engaging students in the higher education learning environment.
- Apply an understanding of shared meaning and learning connection to specific academic disciplines.
- Use several methods to create stories to build community in the classroom.

Format
- Each semester features two themed, four-part series.
- Each workshop is offered live on Zoom and repeated three times — choose the session that works best for your schedule.
- The live, one-hour workshop includes:
- Facilitated discussion with Rowan colleagues
- Sharing of ideas, teaching strategies, and classroom experiences
- Practical takeaways connected to the week’s theme.
- Because the workshops prioritize real-time dialogue, sessions are not recorded.
- Workshops are supported by a dedicated Canvas shell, allowing you to explore techniques hands-on.
