Managing Group Projects & Activities through Canvas

The Faculty Center invites you to join a series of interactive Zoom workshops, Using Canvas to Support Face-to-Face Instruction, designed to enhance your teaching by using Canvas with your face-to-face classes. Each one-hour session will focus on a specific topic, offering practical strategies and best practices.

Workshops are supported by a dedicated Canvas shell, allowing you to explore tools and techniques hands-on. Participants who complete a session will receive a certificate of participation. Whether you're new to Canvas or looking to refine your skills, these sessions are a great opportunity to learn, connect, and grow.

In this interactive session, discover how to streamline group work using Canvas! This hands-on workshop will show you how to set up and manage collaborative projects, monitor student progress, and foster effective teamwork using built-in Canvas tools. Whether you're coordinating peer reviews, group assignments, or shared discussions, you'll leave with practical strategies to enhance engagement and simplify group management.

Learning outcomes:

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Recognize the value of collaborative learning and its impact on student engagement and achievement
  • Explore how Canvas tools can streamline the organization and oversight of group activities
  • Identify “group-worthy” tasks that promote meaningful collaboration and deeper learning
  • Set up and manage group projects effectively using Canvas features such as Groups, Discussions, Assignments, and Peer Reviews
