‘Mappy Hours’ - Geographic Information Science (GIS) consultations with Dr. Ashley York

Are you doing research that involves spatial data or developing a project that could involve spatial data? Do you think a map would enhance your publication? In general, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) provide a framework for gathering, organizing, and analyzing spatial data, that is visualized through maps. By arranging spatial information into coincident layers, GIS analyses help reveal deeper insights into a study area by identifying not only where features of interest are located, but also why spatial patterns or processes are occurring. Dr. Ashley York is an Associate Teaching Professor and the Director of the GIS Program in the Department of Geography, Planning & Sustainability and she is offering one-on-one consultations on the GIS potentials of your existing data or future research project during monthly ‘Mappy Hours!’ Schedule a 60-minute time slot and bring any information or datasets you think may have GIS potential to your consultation meeting with Dr. York on Zoom or in-person (Discovery 125).
